What a low Fsh can mean
What a low FSH result can suggest also varies with context, and a single value needs clinical interpretation. A low FSH often points to the signal itself being low, meaning a pituitary or hypothalamic cause rather than a problem in the ovaries or testes.
- Hypothalamic factors: the brain can reduce its signaling in response to significant stress, very low body weight, or intense or prolonged exercise, which can lower FSH.
